The Cambie Bar & Grill is a Vancouver institution — a no-frills, high-energy alehouse that's been pouring cold beer since 1897. Sitting at the corner of Cambie and Hastings in Gastown, it's one of the city's most beloved neighbourhood pubs. For World Cup 2026, it's one of the most practical choices near BC Place. The walk from the pub to the stadium gates is just 7 minutes straight down Cambie Street — long enough to digest your burger, short enough that you won't miss kick-off. And when the final whistle blows, the Cambie is one of the few spots open until 3AM on weekends, so the celebration (or the post-defeat debrief) can continue well past midnight.

This is not the place for quiet dinners or craft cocktails. It's the place where you'll end up watching the match next to a stranger from Brazil who becomes your best friend for 90 minutes.

Expect a packed house on any Canada match day — the Cambie draws an impressively international crowd. Backpackers from the hostel upstairs mix with local regulars and visiting fans from across the globe. On major game nights, noise levels peak with every chance on goal. The staff are experienced with big crowds: fast, friendly, and unfazed.

The interior is classic Vancouver pub: worn wooden floors, exposed brick, long communal tables, and screens visible from almost every spot in the room. No reservations, no waiting lists — it's purely first-come-first-served. Arrive before 5 PM on match days or plan to stand.

The menu is straightforward pub fare done well at honest prices. The $8 Happy Hour burger + beer combo (available 4–6 PM daily) is genuinely the best value within walking distance of BC Place. Burgers are thick, fries are fresh-cut, and the nachos plate is big enough for three people to share before the match.

On the drinks side: a solid range of domestic and import lagers, a handful of BC craft beers on tap, and spirits that won't shock your wallet. Draft pints average $7–9. During the World Cup, expect promotional pints from Canadian and international brands, plus themed cocktails on match days.

On foot from BC Place: 7 minutes flat, heading north on Cambie St. One of the easiest walks from the stadium in the entire city — no hills, no complicated crossings.
