Disclosure & editorial policy

Last updated: 13 September 2026 · Complements the Editorial Policy and About

FanVancouver.com is an independent Vancouver travel and live-data guide run by one person — Alex — in British Columbia. I moved here from Ukraine and have been writing this site since 2024. This page is the site-wide money and independence notice. The older World Cup 2026 disclosure stays as an archive of that event, not as the current policy.

1. Who writes this

One person. No newsroom, no tourist board, no hotel group. Biography and research method are on the About page. I do not invent years of residence or a senior-editor title.

2. How the site makes money

Affiliate links. Hotel, tour, cruise and some travel-tool links go through tracked hops (/go, Booking.com, Stay22, Expedia, GetYourGuide, Travelpayouts / WayAway, cruise partners). If you book, I may earn a commission. You pay the same price. Commission never decides a recommendation.

Paid PDF guide. The optional Insider PDF is a one-time purchase. The free pages stay free.

Display ads. The site does not run Google AdSense or any other display advertising at the moment, so there is no ads.txt file. If that changes, this page will name the ad network before the first ad appears. See our Cookie Policy.

I do not sell sponsored articles dressed as guides. I do not take payment for a listing to appear “independent.”

3. Live data

Fire counts, smoke / AQHI, road closures and transit status rebuild from official open feeds (BC Wildfire Service, Environment and Climate Change Canada, DriveBC, TransLink). Each figure carries its observation time. When a source is quiet, the page says so instead of showing a stale number as current.

National coverage of the 10 August 2026 North America fire map — including a Newsweek NASA/FIRMS map — used the same public incident counts. That article does not name FanVancouver.

4. Photos and maps

Hero and guide photos on this site are premium on-theme stock (Unsplash, Pexels, Pixabay) or operator imagery credited on the page. Live fire positions come only from official open data, not from a stock photo. Google Maps / Places photos, where they still appear, are credited as such.

5. Corrections

Something wrong, out of date, or missing? Write [email protected] or use the contact form. Time-sensitive errors (hours, fares, closures) are treated first.

Do affiliate links change FanVancouver advice? +
