Who we are

FanVancouver.com is an independent editorial project created by FanVancouver, a Vancouver resident and sports fan originally from Ukraine. This is not a media company, a PR outlet, or a brand. It is one person who researches and writes every page personally, with the goal of giving travellers and sports fans the most accurate and useful Vancouver information on the web.

FanVancouver.com is not affiliated with FIFA, BC Place, Canada Soccer, the City of Vancouver, TransLink, or any official tournament organization. All content represents our own editorial judgement based on publicly available information.

How we research content

Every guide published on FanVancouver.com follows the same research process:

  • Official sources first. Match schedules and scores come from FIFA.com. Transport routes and times are checked against TransLink.ca and official BC Place stadium guides. Hotel proximity data uses Google Maps distance calculations.
  • Cross-verification. Venue hours, addresses, and ratings are sourced from the venue's own website or official Google Business profile, then checked for consistency. We do not publish information we cannot verify.
  • Editorial judgement. We select which venues and neighbourhoods to highlight based on relevance to a World Cup fan visiting Vancouver, not on payment, personal relationships, or SEO keyword lists.
  • Living guides. Pages are updated when new information becomes available — especially match results, transport changes, and venue closures. Update dates are noted at the top of major guides.

We do not publish AI-generated articles without editorial review. All prose on this site has been written and reviewed by a human editor.

Accuracy and corrections

We take accuracy seriously. Errors are corrected as soon as they are identified — typically within 24 hours of being reported. We prioritize corrections to time-sensitive information: match kick-off times, BC Place gate access, and TransLink routes.

If you find an error, please use the information on our Contact page. Include the page URL, what appears to be incorrect, and a link to an official source if you have one.

We do not retroactively delete published content to hide past mistakes. When a significant factual error is corrected, we note the correction at the bottom of the relevant page.

Editorial independence and commercial relationships

FanVancouver.com earns revenue through Google AdSense display advertising and affiliate links (primarily Booking.com for hotel recommendations). These commercial relationships do not influence our editorial decisions.

No venue, hotel, or business has paid for editorial coverage or a listing on this site. Recommendations are made on the basis of genuine usefulness to the reader. If a venue is unsuitable for match-day fans, we say so or we don't include it.

We do not accept payment for positive reviews, guaranteed placements, or removal of negative information. Any request of this kind will be declined.

  • Transport: TransLink.ca official journey planner, BC Place stadium access guides
  • Hotels and accommodation: Booking.com listings (affiliate partner), cross-checked with Google Maps for location accuracy
  • Venue hours and contact details: official venue websites and Google Business profiles
  • Neighbourhood and city information: City of Vancouver open data, Tourism Vancouver public resources
  • Photos: Google Places API (attributed), Wikimedia Commons (licensed), or original photography
