Partners & link policy
FanVancouver is an independent guide to Vancouver and British Columbia — neighbourhoods, transit, BC city bases, jobs pathways, and practical visitor tools. We partner selectively when it helps readers. We do not sell rankings, homepage links, or PBN placements.
Media & creators
- Journalists, podcasts, newsletters needing logistics quotes
- Travel creators who cite specific guides (not only the homepage)
- Co-marketing that stays free for readers
Tools & data
- Transit, maps, lodging discovery, weather utilities
- Official tourism / municipal data citations
- Integrations that improve accuracy — not doorway dumps
Labelled affiliates
- Only when the offer matches page intent
- Always disclosed — see Disclosure
- Never rewrite facts for commission
Travel publishers: FanVancouver’s flight widgets use Travelpayouts (marker 755678). If you run a travel site, that is a labelled referral — you keep their creator bonuses; this site is paid only if your account reaches real earnings milestones. Do not sign up fake publishers.
How we monetize a city travel site
FanVancouver is a Vancouver / BC visitor guide. Booking widgets exist so a reader can compare a flight, tour, or hotel without leaving the page. That is affiliate — tourists booking trips. A separate, labelled referral exists only for other publishers who want the same toolkit. The site’s purpose is the city, not the widgets.
- Write for visitors first. Neighbourhoods, transit, same-day weather. If the page would still exist with no widgets, the widgets are in the right place.
- Put booking widgets on trip-intent pages (flights, tours, hotels) — not on every tourist article. We use Travelpayouts flight/tour widgets and Stay22 hotel maps.
- Turn on “Powered by Travelpayouts” on those widgets. The label is a publisher referral link; travellers ignore it, other travel bloggers sometimes click it.
- Do not put publisher CTAs on tourist pages. Other publishers look at /about/ and this page. Travellers are not referrals, and signing them up is against Travelpayouts’ terms.
- Label paid links. See Disclosure. Commission never rewrites a fact.
If you publish a travel site and want the same widget toolkit: join via this referral. You keep their creator bonuses; this site is paid only if your account reaches real earnings ($500 / $1,500 / $3,000).
What we say yes to
- Local venues and visitor services that improve outcomes (hours, accessibility, transit notes) with verifiable official pages
- Editorial collaborations that keep FanVancouver’s voice independent
- Citations of our deep pages: BC City Guides, Tonight, Route Finder, Jobs pathways, Resume builder
- Affiliate mentions that a traveller would thank us for — labelled, relevant, Canadian/BC-aware
What we decline (hard no)
- Paid “guest post + dofollow” packages, scaled link exchanges, PBNs
- Selling homepage chips, nav slots, or “#1 ranking” on Jobs / BC / map pages
- Scraped “live job boards,” fake inventory, or adult / crypto / pharma spam
- Unrelated gambling, doorway affiliate farms, mass “improve your SEO for $X” blasts
- Anything that conflicts with editorial policy or reader trust
Jobs note: Vancouver Jobs links official employer careers pages and public pathways. Employers cannot pay to outrank others. Pitch improvements (better official URL, clearer newcomer notes) via contact — not paid placement.
Partnership types at a glance

| Affiliate | Intent match + disclosure | Sitewide spam links or off-brand offers |
| Local business | Accurate visitor facts | Buying a “featured” rank over peers |
| Employer (jobs) | Official careers URL fix | Paid ranking on jobs spokes |
