About three years ago I moved to Vancouver from Ukraine — because of the war. What started as an uncertain new beginning turned into something I never expected: I genuinely fell in love with this city and with Canada.

Vancouver is one of those rare places that surprises you every time you explore it — the neighbourhoods, the food scene, the mountains right behind the skyline, the people. I wanted to capture that feeling and make it useful for others.

FanVancouver.com is an independent editorial project dedicated to Vancouver travel, lifestyle, and sports coverage. I built it from the ground up — researching and writing the core guides myself — with the goal of creating a useful, honest Vancouver resource for sports fans and visitors. No AI-generated filler. No copy-paste from tourist boards. Real information, researched and written by someone who actually lives here and walks these streets.

My goal is simple: help tourists, newcomers and locals discover what makes this city special — great pubs, restaurants, neighbourhoods, events — from the neighbourhoods worth walking to the day trips worth the early start.

How I research and write

Every page on FanVancouver.com starts with a question a real visitor might ask: Where do I watch the game near BC Place if I don't have a ticket? Which neighbourhood should I stay in? How early do I need to leave for the stadium on TransLink? I research the answer from official sources — TransLink.ca, the venue's own site, City of Vancouver listings — and then I write it in plain English, the way I'd explain it to a friend arriving at YVR.

For the pub and restaurant directory, we combine verified Google Business data (hours, ratings, addresses, photos) with hand-written hub guides and a smaller set of Editor's Pick sports bars where we add original tips from our own visits. Individual venue pages show distance to BC Place and practical context; we do not claim to have personally visited every entry in a 196-venue directory — that would be misleading. Spot an error? Editorial standards

I correct mistakes promptly when readers point them out. Event dates and prices are checked against the organiser's own listing; transport information cites TransLink and the venue's official guides. Venue details are cross-checked before publishing. If you spot something that looks wrong, please email me — I treat every correction seriously and fix errors within 48 hours.

A bit about me

I'm Ukrainian. I moved to Vancouver when Russia invaded in 2022. I'm a sports fan first — football (soccer) above all else. I speak English, Ukrainian, and Russian. I've explored almost every neighbourhood in Greater Vancouver, from Commercial Drive to Deep Cove to Steveston. When I'm not working on this site, I'm usually at a pub watching a match, or hiking somewhere in North Shore.
