Mount Pleasant (Main St corridor from Broadway to 16th Ave) is the neighbourhood tourists skip for Gastown — their loss. Street art on every block, third-wave coffee, the heart of Yeast Van craft beer, and the annual Vancouver Mural Festival each August. SkyTrain to Broadway–City Hall or Main St–Science World; walk everything.

Vancouver Mural Festival — August

Since 2016, VMF has commissioned 250+ murals across the city — the densest concentration lives here. Each August, new walls go up live; block parties, DJs and beer gardens follow. Free to walk; map on vanmuralfest.ca and the Mural Finder app.

• Self-guided walk: start Main & 2nd Ave, head south to 16th — 2 h with coffee stops.
• Best photos: morning side light; respect residents — alleys are people's backyards.
