Gastown
🍺 Best for nightlifeVancouver's oldest neighbourhood and craft beer capital. Cobblestone streets, historic steam clock, and wall-to-wall pubs. The Lamplighter, Six Acres, Alibi Room — Gastown has some of the city's best bars. A 20-minute walk or one SkyTrain stop to BC Place.
Downtown Core
⚽ Closest to BC PlaceThe heart of World Cup 2026 action. BC Place is at the south edge of downtown, making this the most convenient base. Granville Street is the main entertainment strip — packed with bars, clubs, and restaurants. Hotels here are pricer but you'll walk to every match.
Yaletown
🍷 Upscale diningConverted warehouse district with boutique restaurants, wine bars and patios along the seawall. Less rowdy than Gastown but excellent food scene. Great for groups who want a nicer dinner before or after matches. The Canada Line SkyTrain stops right in Yaletown.
Olympic Village
🏅 Great value · waterfrontBuilt for the 2010 Winter Olympics, this waterfront neighbourhood is modern, clean and fan-friendly. False Creek waterfront with mountain views, Tap & Barrel and local craft breweries. Less touristy than downtown, more relaxed atmosphere. A 20-minute walk along the seawall to BC Place.
Kitsilano
🏖 Beach · local vibeVancouver's beloved beach neighbourhood — locally known as "Kits". Beautiful Kitsilano Beach, independent cafes and restaurants along 4th Avenue. Quieter and more residential, great for longer stays. Takes 40 minutes to reach BC Place via bus, but the neighbourhood is worth it for the atmosphere.
East Vancouver
💰 Best budget optionThe real local Vancouver — diverse, authentic and affordable. Commercial Drive (known as "The Drive") is famous for its Italian-Brazilian-Colombian café culture and local bars. Great ethnic food from all over the world, perfect for international fans. 25–35 minutes to BC Place on the Expo Line.

- Get a Compass Card — $10 from any SkyTrain station. Load $30–50 for your trip. Tap in/out, no hassle.
- Stay within SkyTrain distance — Expo or Canada Line to Stadium-Chinatown station is 2 min walk to BC Place.
