⛰ The Mountains You Kept Photographing

That wall of green peaks behind Vancouver's skyline is the North Shore — and it's a 25-minute bus ride away. This day plan combines Grouse Mountain, the free Lynn Canyon suspension bridge and Deep Cove into the best mountain day the city offers without a car. 🚡

🌉 Lynn Canyon: The Free Suspension Bridge

Capilano Suspension Bridge charges ~$70; Lynn Canyon's bridge is free, hangs 50 m over a rainforest gorge, and locals will tell you the surrounding trails are better. The 30 Foot Pool below is Vancouver's favourite (cold!) swimming hole. Bus #228 or #229 from Lonsdale Quay. Budget 2 hours with the loop trail to Twin Falls. This is the single best free half-day on the North Shore.

✅ The Full-Day Route

Waterfront → SeaBus 9:00 → Grouse (Grind or Skyride) morning → bus back via Lynn Canyon early afternoon → #212 to Deep Cove for kayak rental (~$45/2h) or the short Quarry Rock lookout hike → honey doughnut at Honey's (the queue is part of the ritual) → SeaBus home. One Compass day pass covers every leg.

❓ FAQ

Can I do the North Shore without a car?
Easily — SeaBus + buses #236/#228/#212 connect Grouse, Lynn Canyon and Deep Cove. One transit day pass covers everything.
Lynn Canyon or Capilano suspension bridge?
Capilano is bigger and polished (~$70); Lynn Canyon is free, less crowded and surrounded by better swimming and trails. Locals choose Lynn.
How hard is the Grouse Grind?
Genuinely hard — 800 m of vertical stairs, 1.5–2 hours for fit hikers, no descending allowed. The gondola is the dignified alternative.
