Every winter, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park in North Vancouver lights up its rainforest canyon and stays open into the evening. In 2026, Canyon Lights runs from Friday 20 November to Sunday 10 January 2027, 11am to 9pm daily, closed only on Christmas Day. There is no separate event ticket: the lights come with regular park admission, so one timed ticket covers the suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure and Cliffwalk by daylight and lit up after dark. The park lets guests stay an hour past the posted closing time, so on a Canyon Lights night you can keep walking until 10pm. Visiting between 2 and 19 November? The park closes at 5pm and the lights are not up yet. For the October event, see our Halloween in Vancouver guide.
Admission also covers the Story Centre and Kia'palano, the park's history and First Nations heritage areas, both accessible to wheelchair users.
Canyon Lights is included in the price of a regular day ticket to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and in the BC Residents Annual Pass. You pick a date and an arrival window when you buy; you must arrive within that window, and once inside you can stay as long as you like. At peak times, visits are scheduled in one-hour arrival windows, and tickets are released in batches through the year, so if your date is not on sale yet, check back.
The price. The park does not publish a flat rate: admission is priced by date and arrival window and shown at checkout on capbridge.com, and GST is added on top. Adults and seniors pay less online than at the gate. Travel guides have been quoting adult admission at roughly $70–80, so treat that as a ballpark and check the exact figure for your date.
The Twilight Rate, 25% off after 5pm, ends on 8 October, so it does not apply during Canyon Lights.
If you live in British Columbia, the Annual Pass costs the same as one day's regular admission and gives a year of free visits, including Canyon Lights, the Canyon Frights Halloween event and Love Lights around Valentine's Day. There is a catch at Christmas: pass reservations per hour are limited at peak times, and passholders must book a time online before every visit, so reserve early. The pass also gives 15% off regular admission for guests you bring along, 10% off regular-priced items at the Trading Post gift shop, and 10% off food and drink (excluding alcohol) at the Cliff House Restaurant, Loggers' Grill, Beary Waffles and The Cabin. Hosting visitors over the holidays? That 15% applies to their tickets.
Plan on 2 to 2.5 hours: that is the park's own average for the 1.8 km of paved paths and boardwalks, the bridge, Treetops and Cliffwalk. It is a rainforest in December: bring a waterproof layer and wear shoes with grip, because the boardwalks are often wet.
Free shuttle. The park runs a complimentary shuttle all year from downtown. Pick-ups are at Canada Place (the cruise terminal, on Canada Place Way between the two convention centres), the Hyatt Regency (Melville Street entrance) and the Blue Horizon Hotel on Robson Street. The ride from Canada Place takes about 20 minutes, depending on traffic. Seats are first come, first served, you need proof of admission for the return trip, and the park recommends the shuttle on peak nights. The winter timetable has not been posted yet (the current one runs to 8 October), so check the shuttle schedule for the last return before you go. Ticketed guests arriving on the shuttle can leave luggage at Canada Place and collect it the same day, which is handy on a travel day.
Transit. From Waterfront Station, take the SeaBus to Lonsdale Quay, then bus 236 to the park. Or take bus 246 from Granville or Burrard SkyTrain or West Georgia Street to Ridgewood Drive at Norcross Way, and walk north on Capilano Road. The SeaBus crosses into zone 2, but after 6:30pm on weekdays, and all day at weekends and on holidays, every trip is charged as one zone: $2.85 with a Compass Card. Using single Compass tickets? Driving. Go west on Georgia Street through Stanley Park, over the Lions Gate Bridge, take the North Vancouver exit onto Marine Drive, then left onto Capilano Road for about 1.6 km. From Highway 1, use exit 14. On-site parking is limited and costs $9 for up to three hours. Meters take Visa, Mastercard and Amex, the ticket agents at the entrance take cash and debit, and you can also use PayByPhone (location 4536). When the lot fills at peak times, you may be sent to a free overflow lot with a free shuttle to the gate. Taxis and rideshares drop off at the crosswalk opposite the entrance.

Hot chocolate and live festive music are part of the evening. For a proper meal, The Cliff House Restaurant & Bar has a holiday menu: a Merry Margarita, mulled wine and traditional eggnog, braised beef short rib or Lois Lake steelhead crudo, and a crispy fried chocolate lava cake. Loggers' Grill, Beary Waffles and The Cabin are the quicker stops. The park publishes no food prices, so budget for them separately.

If you have not been to Capilano before, yes, and the timing is what makes it good value: arrive an hour before sunset and one ticket gives you the canyon, the rainforest and Treetops by daylight and then the whole park lit up, with no extra charge for the lights. For BC residents it is an easy call, since the Annual Pass costs the same as one visit. It is weaker value if you have already done the bridge in summer and only want the lights, or if the only slot you can get is a sold-out Saturday in late December. In that case the Christmas Market, VanDusen or a free walk past the city's lights costs less. Go on a weekday in late November or early December, book the arrival window early, and take the shuttle.

Not onto the attractions: strollers are not allowed on the suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure or Cliffwalk, and there is stroller parking. Carry babies below railing height or in a purpose-made child carrier; shoulder carriers are not permitted.
