Geography of logistics work
If your housing is in East Vancouver without a car, test the bus + walk to a Delta or Richmond warehouse before you accept a 05:00 start. Many candidates quit in week one because the commute was theoretical.

Warehouse pay, tickets and where the work physically is
Almost none of this work is in Vancouver proper. The distribution belt runs through Annacis Island in Delta, the Richmond industrial parks near the river, Port Kells and Campbell Heights in Surrey, and Burnaby's Big Bend. That geography is the job decision: a $25 hourly rate with a 90-minute each-way transit commute is worse than $22 fifteen minutes from home, and most of these sites are poorly served by SkyTrain.
- General warehouse and order picking: $20-24 an hour, more on afternoon and night shifts.
- Forklift with a valid ticket: $24-28 — the ticket is a one-day course and the fastest pay rise available in this sector.
- Shipping and receiving clerk: $23-27, usually needs some system experience.
- Class 1 or 3 driving: substantially more, and always in demand at the port.
Overtime is where the money is
British Columbia pays time-and-a-half after eight hours in a day or forty in a week, and double time after twelve hours in a day. In peak season — the pre-Christmas run from October, and the summer produce months — warehouses run heavy overtime, and the annual earnings from a $23 job can be well above what the hourly rate suggests. Ask about seasonal overtime patterns in the interview; it is a normal question here.
