Where to stay near the venues
Downtown hotels put you within walking distance or a short SkyTrain ride. Live prices below.
Vancouver's live-events scene runs across a handful of very different rooms — the downtown arenas and stadium for hockey, football and the biggest touring concerts, the heritage theatres for opera, ballet and Broadway tours, and the open-air amphitheatre for summer shows. This page pulls the upcoming schedule for each of the city's main venues into one place.
Each venue guide lists what's coming up plus the practical details that actually matter on the night — the nearest SkyTrain station, approximate capacity, what's nearby and where to stay within walking distance. Pick a venue below to see its full schedule. For a date-first view use this weekend or the full calendar.
How to pick a room
- Rogers Arena — Canucks, the largest indoor tours. Stadium–Chinatown Station is two minutes on foot; do not drive on a game night.
- BC Place — Whitecaps, Lions, stadium concerts. Retractable roof, so rain is not a reason to stay home. Same SkyTrain stop as Rogers Arena, four minutes further.
- PNE Amphitheatre (Freedom Mobile Arch) — Summer Night Concerts through early September, open air, Hastings Park. Dress for the evening chill; buses 14/16/135, not SkyTrain-to-the-door.
- Pacific Coliseum — the older Hastings Park arena: family shows, some hockey, mid-size tours. Pair it with a PNE Fair date if the fair is running.
- Queen Elizabeth Theatre / Orpheum — Broadway, opera, VSO. Granville / Stadium–Chinatown. Bags and late seating rules are theatre-strict; arrive early.
- Commodore Ballroom — standing room, sprung floor, Granville Street. 990 capacity; sold-out shows mean a line on the sidewalk.
- Vancouver Convention Centre — expos and consumer shows on the waterfront, five minutes from Waterfront Station and the cruise terminal.
Bag policies and door times change by promoter. The venue pages below do not invent those rules — they point you at the listing and the SkyTrain stop. Hotels: downtown inventory is tight on Whitecaps / Canucks / PNE concert nights; book the Stay22 map on each venue page rather than guessing a neighbourhood.
Tickets, bags and a September calendar
Buy from the venue or the promoter named on the listing. “Artist Tickets” scalper pages are filtered out of the live calendar on purpose — if a card looks like a ticket marketplace with no date and no room, it is not a night out. Theatre shows (Queen Elizabeth, Orpheum) are strict on late seating and bags; arena nights at Rogers and BC Place are airport-style security with a longer door queue. The PNE Amphitheatre season runs with the fair: the 2026 PNE Fair is 22 August–7 September, so early September is the last window for an open-air Hastings Park concert before the grounds go dark.
Access: Stadium–Chinatown Station is step-free into both Rogers Arena and BC Place. The heritage theatres have elevators but narrower aisles — check the venue access page if you need a specific seat. Hastings Park (PNE / Coliseum) is bus, not SkyTrain-to-the-door; budget an extra 15 minutes on a wet night. For the date-first view of the same listings, use this weekend.
Getting there without a car
Almost every room on this list is a short walk from SkyTrain. The exception is Hastings Park (PNE / Coliseum): budget 25–35 minutes from downtown on the bus, or a taxi on a wet concert night. Event-night parking at BC Place and Rogers Arena fills early and is priced as a deterrent. A TransLink day pass covers the return. More in the getting-around guide and the BC Place access page.
