Labour Day weekend 2026 is Saturday 5 September through Monday 7 September. For visitors it is the last long weekend of summer: PNE still running, patios full, and — this year — wildfire smoke still in the conversation. Plan the outdoor half of the weekend like a local: morning hikes, indoor backup after 3pm if AQHI jumps.
What is actually on
- PNE Fair — Hastings Park. Last stretch of the fair often overlaps Labour Day. Tickets and hours: check the official PNE site the week of; we keep the visitor version on /vancouver/pne-fair-2026/.
- Beaches and seawall — Kits and English Bay fill early Monday. Go before 10am or skip the parking lottery.
- Day trips — Whistler and Squamish highways jam Sunday evening. Leave Monday morning or stay the extra night.
