Cheap Breakfast Vancouver: Under $10 Picks & 24/7 Spots (2026)

Weekend brunch in Vancouver usually means a queue and a big bill. Breakfast for under $10 still exists, but mostly at the counter: bagel shops, bakery cafés and Chinatown bakeries, where you order, pay and either sit down or take it with you. Below are the places that still manage it in 2026, with prices from their own menus, the spots open at 5 am, the cheapest pick in each neighbourhood, and the closed cafés that older lists still send people to.

Bon's Off Broadway has no official menu online; the $5.45 figure comes from an unofficial menu, so treat it as a guide and confirm at the counter.

Breakfast under $10: five places that still manage it

Siegel's Bagels — $6.95 egg bagel, open 24 hours in Kitsilano

The Siegel's shop at 1883 Cornwall Avenue in Kitsilano is open 24 hours, every day, which makes it the most reliable cheap breakfast in the city at 6 am or after a late night. A bagel with egg costs $6.95, with cheddar $8.25, and two scrambled eggs with a bagel on the side $9.85. The Morning Bagel and the egg, tomato and cheddar bagel are both $9.95. If you only want something to carry, a plain bagel is $2.25, $3.50 with butter and $5.75 with cream cheese; a cinnamon bun is $5.95.

The second Siegel's is stall 22 inside the Granville Island Public Market, open 9 am to 6 pm. The plated breakfasts, the Big Breakfast Bagel ($15.95) and the Egg Benny ($15.50), are good but no longer budget food.

Breka Bakery & Café — 24/7 bakery cafés across the city

Breka is a family business that has been running since 2006, and all eight of its cafés are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Downtown and the West End are covered by the cafés on Bute Street, Davie Street (855 Davie) and Denman Street; the others are on West 4th Avenue, Main Street, Fraser Street, and West and East Hastings.

It is a bakery counter, so breakfast comes from the case: a breakfast croissant for $7.25, a French toast breakfast sandwich for $9.50, two frittata bites for $5.50, a yogurt parfait for $7.25 and chia pudding for $5.25. For the smallest budgets, a sausage roll is $3, an apple fritter $3.75 and a glazed donut $1.75.

New Town Bakery — $4.50 steamed buns in Chinatown

New Town Bakery & Restaurant has been at 148 East Pender Street in Chinatown since 1980, and its steamed buns are the cheapest proper breakfast on this page. Pork, chicken, beef and vegetable buns are $4.50 each, the Chicken Deluxe $5.50, and the sweet custard and red bean buns $3.75. Two savoury buns make breakfast for $9; add a sticky rice roll ($4.75) or a Chinese sausage roll ($4.25) if you are hungry. Rice rolls ($8.25 to $11) and dumplings ($10.50) turn it into a sit-down meal.

New Town opens at 6:30 am and closes at 7:30 pm, and it is closed on statutory holidays. Menu prices do not include tax or tip.

Rosemary Rocksalt — bagels on Commercial Drive

The bagel shop at 1350 Commercial Drive opens 7 am to 7 pm every day. Its egg, cheddar and tomato sandwich costs $9.95. On the menu it is called the Yaletown, but there is no Yaletown shop, so do not go looking for one downtown. The Hastings-Sunrise sandwich is $11.95. At the cheap end, a plain bagel is $2.25, $3.50 with butter and $5.50 with cream cheese; hash browns are $2.50 and tots $4.50.

The second shop is in Richmond at 8050-11688 Steveston Highway, open 7 am to 5 pm; the Lonsdale shop in North Vancouver is temporarily closed. Make it a morning on Commercial Drive.

Bon's Off Broadway — the diner on Nanaimo Street

Bon's Off Broadway, at 2451 Nanaimo Street in East Vancouver, is a diner that opens at 8 am for dine-in and take-out. Google puts it in the lowest price band, $1 to $10 a person, and an unofficial online menu lists a ham breakfast special at $5.45. There is no official menu to check, so confirm the price at the counter.

Sit-down breakfast for $10 to $20

Marulilu Cafe, 451 West Broadway near Broadway–City Hall station, serves breakfast all day. Plates A to D come with two organic eggs, two gluten-free hash browns and two pieces of toast or waffles; there are also Japanese breakfast sets with tofu or natto, onigiri and a breakfast wrap. Marulilu does not publish prices online, and Google lists it at $10 to $20 a person. It is open Monday, Thursday and Friday 9 am to 6 pm, Wednesday 9 am to 3 pm, and weekends 8:30 am to 6 pm; it is closed on Tuesdays. The menu is on Marulilu's breakfast page.

Uprising Breads Bakery, 1697 Venables Street near Commercial Drive, opens at 7 am. It is a bakery café rather than a diner, and Google lists it at $10 to $20 a person.

Cheap breakfast open now: 24-hour and early spots

Before 6:30 am only the two 24-hour names are open: any Breka café and Siegel's in Kitsilano. New Town follows at 6:30, Rosemary Rocksalt and Uprising at 7, and Bon's at 8. On statutory holidays New Town is closed, while Breka and the Kitsilano Siegel's stay open.

Cheap breakfast in downtown Vancouver

Downtown has the fewest cheap breakfasts, and the good options come down to two. Breka's cafés on Bute, Davie and Denman are open around the clock and sell the most filling cheap breakfast in the core: the $7.25 breakfast croissant or the $9.50 French toast sandwich. Just east of the core, New Town Bakery in Chinatown has steamed buns from 6:30 am, a short walk from Gastown.

Beyond those, the chains are the dependable fallback: Tim Hortons, McDonald's and A&W all have downtown branches serving breakfast. If your hotel rate does not include breakfast, a bakery café is usually the cheaper way to eat.

How to find a cheap breakfast near you

• Search “bakery” or “bagel”, not “breakfast”. Most breakfasts under $10 are at counter-service bakeries; a search for “breakfast” fills the map with sit-down brunch places.
• Use the price filter. Google's $1–10 band picks up diners such as Bon's; most sit-down breakfasts sit in the $10–20 band.
• Before 7 am, filter by “open now”. Only Breka and Siegel's in Kitsilano are open through the night; New Town opens at 6:30.
• Check that the place still exists. Several cafés on older cheap-breakfast lists have closed (see below).
• Add tax and tip. Menu prices exclude the 5% GST. At a counter, the tip prompt on the card machine is optional; at table service, 15–20% is normal.

• Cafe Deux Soleils, Commercial Drive: closed on 4 October 2022.
• Wallflower Modern Diner, Main Street: closed.
• Rosemary Rocksalt in Yaletown: there is no Yaletown shop. The name belongs to a sandwich on the menu; the shops are on Commercial Drive and in Richmond.
• Sophie's Cosmic Café, Sunshine Diner, Joe's Grill and Hamburger Mary's serve good breakfasts, but a plate with coffee costs well over $10 a person.
