Reserve on BC Parks — inventory is the reservation calendar. Walk-up risk is high in peak season.
Permits required — backcountry (Garibaldi-style). No car camping; no permit = no night.
Check status first — fire, flood, or seasonal closure can override a “booked” dream (Okanagan fire years).
First-come rec sites — more free-feeling, less guaranteed; arrive early mid-week when you can.

When should I book BC Parks camping? +

For July–August weekends near Vancouver and on Vancouver Island, book as soon as the official window opens — often months ahead. Mid-week and shoulder seasons are more flexible.

Do BC campgrounds have toilets and showers? +

Frontcountry provincial parks often have flush toilets and many have showers; backcountry camps usually have outhouses only and no showers. Always confirm the specific park page before you go.
