Kids, dogs, and first-timers

If you are introducing children to provincial-park camping, pick a loop near toilets and water, walk the path to the lake before dark so nobody invents a shortcut through brush, and set a simple night rule: headlamp on outside the tent, no food in sleeping bags, whistle for “come back to camp.” Dogs must follow leash and waste rules — wildlife conflict often starts with an off-leash chase.

Fishing & paddle notes

Treat fishing as a licensed, regulated activity: buy the correct freshwater or tidal licence, read the current synopsis for the waterbody, and never assume a dock is a free-for-all. For paddling, wind windows matter more than Instagram. Morning glass can die by noon on larger lakes and sounds.
