Closest to the city: Richmond Country Farms, about 30 minutes from downtown, and the ticket includes a pumpkin.
Free to walk in: Westham Island Herb Farm in Delta, daily to October 31. Taves in Abbotsford is free on regular weekdays too.
Cheapest paid ticket: Hazelmere weekday afternoons, 2–5 pm, $10 (October 1–30).
Biggest full day out: Maan Farms or Aldor Acres.
Last day: almost everything closes Saturday, October 31. Maan Farms and the Chilliwack corn maze go to November 1.
Every October the same question arrives in family group chats across the Lower Mainland: which patch, and is it worth the drive? The honest answer is that the farms are not interchangeable. Some sell you a ticket and a pumpkin together; some let you in free and charge at the till; some are a quiet field with a wagon, and some are an all-day fairground with two corn mazes and a separate ticket for the scary part after dark.
This guide compares eight farms within about an hour of downtown Vancouver on the things that change your day: what you pay, what the ticket actually covers, when they open, how long the drive is, and whether the dog can come. Prices are 2026 prices, checked against each farm's own site in the last week of September.

Drive times are our off-peak estimates from downtown Vancouver; a Saturday in October on Highway 1 or 99 can add half an hour. Children 2 and under are free almost everywhere; at Hazelmere the ticket starts at age 2. Prices can change mid-season — check the farm's page the morning you go.
The farms, one by one
Richmond Country Farms — the closest, and a pumpkin in the price
- Where: 12900 Steveston Highway, Richmond
- Season: open through October 31 (early opening was September 26–27; from Wednesday, September 30 it runs through Halloween)
- Hours: weekdays 9 am–4 pm; weekends and holidays 10 am–4:30 pm — treat those as last-entry times and arrive earlier
- Admission: $15 + tax weekdays, $20 + tax weekends; 2 and under free
- Official site: richmondcountryfarms.com
If you have one afternoon and small children, this is the answer. The ticket covers one pumpkin of any size, a Spartan apple, the corn maze, wagon rides and the photo spots; on weekends a train ride and a live band are added. Because the pumpkin is already paid for, the $5 difference between a weekday and a weekend ticket is the only real decision you make.
It pairs well with the rest of south Richmond: Steveston village and its fish-and-chip counters are a short drive west along the same highway, and our Richmond food guide covers dinner on the way home.
Westham Island Herb Farm — free to walk, pay at the till
- Where: 4690 Kirkland Road, Westham Island, Delta
- Season: daily until October 31
- Hours: 10 am–5 pm
- Admission: free in 2026 (per Daily Hive's 2026 listing); cash, credit and debit accepted
- Official site: westhamislandherb.ca
Westham Island is flat farmland in the mouth of the Fraser, reached from Ladner over a single-lane wooden bridge, and the drive in is half the pleasure. The farm dresses the fields for the season — a Pumpkintown, a Sunflower Lane and a crowd of scarecrows — and you walk it for nothing; what you pay for is what goes in the car.
That makes it the right choice for photographers and for families who want the look of a patch without the fairground. The George C. Reifel bird sanctuary is on the same island if you want to turn it into a longer outing.

Hazelmere Pumpkin Patch — the cheapest weekday ticket
- Where: 18507 20 Avenue, South Surrey
- Weekends: to October 31, 10 am–5 pm, $12.50 per person age 2 and up
- Weekday afternoons: October 1–30, 2–5 pm, $10
- Included: wagon rides, farm animals, a mini corn maze and a play area; pumpkins extra
- Official site: hazelmerepumpkinpatch.ca
A ten-acre field growing around 30 varieties, which is the reason to come if you want something other than the classic orange. The weekday-afternoon ticket is the best-value entry on this list if you can leave work or school early, and South Surrey is an easy add-on to a day at White Rock.
Aldor Acres — the farm-day farm
- Where: 24990 84 Avenue, Langley
- Season: to October 31, daily 9 am–6 pm, last entry 5 pm
- Admission: about $21 per person, 2 and under free (Daily Hive 2026); day and family passes available
- Official site: aldoracresfamilyfarm.ca
Eighty acres of working family farm rather than a pumpkin field with extras. Children come for the animals, the hayride and the hay jumping pile; adults come for the sunflowers, the forest walks and the farm market. It feels more like a farm visit than a fair — plan on half a day, not an hour.
Eagle Acres — small, calm, mostly weekends
- Where: 8796 240 Street, Langley
- Dates: Saturdays and Sundays to October 31, plus Thanksgiving Monday (October 12) and Friday, October 23, per Daily Hive's 2026 listing — the farm's own site still showed an older date on September 29, so confirm before you drive
- Hours: 10 am–5 pm
- Admission: $13–$15, 2 and under free; tickets online through the farm's Tickit page
- Official site: eagleacres.ca
A dairy farm with a hayride out to the field and pre-picked bins for anyone who would rather not wade. It is a pet-free business, so leave the dog at home. Best for families who found the bigger farms too busy last year.

Laity Pumpkin Patch — two farms, pick by age
- Where: North site 21145 128 Avenue; South site 12725 Laity Street, Maple Ridge
- Season: September 26 – October 31, 2026
- Hours: open weekends and weekday afternoons — exact times are on the farm's calendar, which differs by site
- Admission: $13 weekdays, $16 weekends and holidays, GST included, age 3 and up; one ticket covers one site; pumpkins extra; cash, debit and credit
- Official site: laitypumpkinpatch.com
Laity is really two patches, and choosing the wrong one is the classic mistake. North is built for children up to about six: a hay-wagon ride past the animals, a one-acre corn maze, a play centre, a fairy-tale woods walk and panning for “gold”. South is for older kids: a two-acre maze, a pumpkin cannon, a western-style Pumpkin Town, a jumping pad and a tree maze. A ticket is valid at one site only, so decide in the car. No pets at either.
Taves Family Farms — free on weekdays, dogs welcome in parts
- Where: 333 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford
- Hours: weekdays 10 am–5:30 pm, weekends 9:30 am–6 pm
- Admission: free entry to the pumpkin patch and orchard on regular weekdays; on weekends and holidays you need a Picking Pass, sold at the farm only; the Magic of Fall attractions are a separate ticket (2026 guides list from about $25 weekdays and $28 weekends online)
- Dogs: leashed dogs allowed in the sunflower patch, pumpkin patch, corn maze and on the hay ride — not in the orchards or the store
- Official site: tavesfamilyfarms.com
An apple farm first, which is why it works so well in October: you can pick apples and a pumpkin on the same visit. A weekday trip is the bargain of the Fraser Valley.
Maan Farms — the big day, and the last to close
- Where: 790 McKenzie Road, Abbotsford
- Season: Fall at the Farm to November 1, daily 9 am–6 pm
- Admission: age 3 and up; 2026 guides list about $17 on Tuesdays, $20 on other weekdays and $27 on weekends, with VIP tickets higher — buy online and check the current price
- After dark: the Halloween Fright Festival is a separate ticket
- Official site: maanfarms.com
If the day is the point rather than the pumpkin, this is the one. Maan grows its pumpkins in a five-acre forest patch and runs two corn mazes alongside the rest of the fall fair. It is also the only one of the eight still open on November 1, which matters when the 31st lands on a busy Saturday.
Going further: Chilliwack
Another 20 minutes east, Chilliwack has its own cluster. Fantasy Farms at 9423 Gibson Road opens Petey's Pumpkin Patch on October 3 in daylight, with train rides, a kids' corn maze, animals and bouncy castles; after dark the same farm runs Reapers, a haunted attraction from October 2 that is not recommended for children under 10. The Chilliwack Original Corn Maze at 41905 Yale Road West runs until November 1. Make a weekend of it and the hot pools at Harrison Hot Springs are a short drive beyond.
Planning the day
Take a car. Every farm here is a drive, and with small children and a heavy pumpkin a car makes the day far easier than transit. If you are visiting, our getting around Vancouver guide covers the options.
Pick your day. Thanksgiving weekend (Saturday October 10 to Monday October 12) and the weekends closest to Halloween tend to be the busiest of the season, and Halloween itself falls on a Saturday this year. The quietest visits are weekday afternoons — at Hazelmere and Taves they are also the cheapest. On a weekend, arrive in the first hour.
Dress for mud. October in the Lower Mainland is wet, and a pumpkin field after rain is a ploughed field. Rubber boots, a change of socks for the children and a bag for muddy boots in the car will save the drive home. If the forecast is a washout, swap the farm for an indoor plan from our rainy-day guide.
Bring a card and some cash. Most farms take cards; a little cash still helps at small stands and on busy days when a terminal goes down.
Check the dog rule first. Of the farms that publish a clear rule, Taves welcomes leashed dogs in set areas, while Laity and Eagle Acres are pet-free. Everywhere else, ask before you go.
After dark: the scary half of October
The pumpkin patch is the daytime half of the season. For the night, Fright Nights at Playland is the big one in the city, Maan Farms' Fright Festival and Fantasy Farms' Reapers cover the Fraser Valley, and our Halloween in Vancouver 2026 guide has trick-or-treat streets, the fireworks rules and the story of where the night came from. One thing that is not on: the Stanley Park Ghost Train, which is sitting out its second Halloween in a row.

How we checked. Dates, hours and prices were read from each farm's own website on 29 September 2026. Where a farm's page was unclear or out of date — Westham Island admission, the Eagle Acres calendar, the Aldor Acres price — we used Daily Hive's 2026 pumpkin-patch roundup and say so above. Maan Farms and Taves ticket prices come from 2026 visitor guides. Drive times are our own off-peak estimates, not a routing service. Photos are illustrative, not of a specific farm.
