From the venues' own policy pages, checked on 2 October 2026. A promoter can add rules for a single show, and security has the final say at the door.

Rogers Arena bag policy

Rogers Arena, home of the Canucks and the Vancouver Warriors and the city's main arena for concerts, has no clear-bag policy. It sets one size limit instead: bags, including purses and backpacks, must not be larger than 14β€³ Γ— 14β€³ Γ— 6β€³ (35 Γ— 35 Γ— 15 cm). Anything bigger has to go back to your car or another secure place before you can go in, and the arena does not list a bag check. Bags can be inspected at the door.

Also on the arena's prohibited list: bottles and cans, coolers, sticks, flagpoles and selfie sticks, aerosol cans, skateboards and rollerblades, outside food and drinks (food-allergy and medical exceptions apply), helium balloons, horns, noisemakers and cowbells, masks that cover the face, luggage, and weapons of any kind. Empty plastic water bottles are allowed at Canucks and Warriors games; glass and steel bottles are not.

Cameras: non-flash still photos are welcome at Canucks games if the lens is no longer than 75 mm and not detachable. Audio and video recording devices are banned at every event. For concerts, the camera, water-bottle and sign rules are set show by show, so check with Fan Services (604-899-7440, [email protected]) if you are unsure.

With kids: baby bags are allowed after the security check, and strollers can be checked at Guest Services (Sections 114 and 311, plus 104 during hockey games). Guest Services also lends noise-cancelling headphones for a deposit of a driver's licence or credit card. Strobe lights are used at games and concerts.

BC Place clear bag policy

BC Place (BC Lions, Whitecaps FC and stadium concerts) asks guests not to bring bags at all, and only two kinds are let in:

  • a small bag no larger than 6.5β€³ Γ— 8.5β€³ (16.5 Γ— 21.6 cm), clear or not;
  • a clear plastic bag no larger than 12β€³ Γ— 12β€³ Γ— 6β€³ (30 Γ— 30 Γ— 15 cm), clear freezer bags included.

Not allowed: purses, all backpacks (clear ones too), mesh bags, camera bags, binocular cases, seat cushions, non-clear belt bags over 6.5β€³ Γ— 8.5β€³, tinted or patterned plastic bags, non-clear totes, cinch bags, luggage and coolers. Diaper bags and medically necessary items that don't fit in a clear bag can be let in as an exception.

Bag check costs $10 per piece at events, first come, first served, and bags are stored at your own risk. Everyone goes through a metal detector: put umbrellas, permitted bags and cameras on the table first. Once you are inside there is no re-entry, except for medical emergencies.

Other limits: empty personal water bottles up to 1 litre are allowed (no glass); no cameras with detachable lenses or fixed lenses longer than 6β€³ (150 mm); no tripods, selfie sticks, laser pointers, drones, outside food or alcohol. Laptops and tablets in a sleeve smaller than 12β€³ Γ— 12β€³ Γ— 6β€³ can come in after inspection. At concerts, signs and posters are banned unless you bought them at the official merchandise stands on Terry Fox Plaza.

Practical tips (Alex)

  • Coming to a Canucks game straight from work? Measure the laptop bag first: 14β€³ Γ— 14β€³ Γ— 6β€³ is smaller than most commuter backpacks, and Rogers Arena has no bag check to fall back on.
  • For a BC Place concert the easiest bag is no bag: phone, card and keys in your pockets, or a clear freezer bag for the rest.
  • BC Place bag check is first come, first served. If you are carrying luggage on the day you fly, store it nearby instead of counting on a spot.
  • Vancouver rain is real. Umbrellas go on the screening table at BC Place; keep yours compact.
