Celebration of Light 2026: Fireworks Dates, Best Viewing Spots & Tips

The Honda Celebration of Light is the world's longest-running offshore fireworks competition: three nations, three Saturday-and-Wednesday summer nights, each firing a 25-minute choreographed show from a barge in English Bay while 300,000+ people line the shores. It is free, enormous, and very much worth planning around.

The event traditionally runs on three nights in late July, with shows starting at 10pm sharp. Each competing country pairs its pyrotechnics to a soundtrack simulcast on local radio โ€” bring a phone and earbuds and stream it for the full effect.

๐ŸŒ‡ Make a full evening of it

Arrive late afternoon, swim or rent a kayak at English Bay, get takeaway from Denman Street, and watch the sky go from sunset to show. It is the single best free evening Vancouver offers all year.
